Women's Rugby

Be Part of Something New

Women’s rugby is building again at Amesbury RFC — and this is your opportunity to be part of it from the beginning.

With Leone returning to Amesbury as our Women’s Head Coach, we now have the leadership and commitment in place to start building a new women’s squad.

We’re not pretending there is already a ready-made team waiting for you. We’re building one.

And that creates an opportunity to do something a little different.

To bring together a group of women who want to play rugby, get fitter, make friends, develop their game and create a team they can genuinely call their own.

A fresh start

Our aim is to build a women’s section around:

Belonging • Fun • Fitness • Friendship • Opportunity

You might be an experienced player looking for a new rugby home. You might have played before and be thinking about coming back. You might never have picked up a rugby ball.

All are welcome.

At this stage, attitude and enthusiasm matter far more to us than experience.

More than just a team

Amesbury RFC is a community rugby club with thriving Age Grade, Men’s and Walking Rugby sections. We want women’s rugby to become an equally important part of that club.

That means creating more than somewhere to train and play. We want to build a squad with its own identity, friendships, social experiences and sense of belonging, while being fully involved in the wider life of the club.

And because we are building from the beginning, the people who join us now will have a genuine opportunity to help shape what comes next.

Help us build it

Our first goal is simple: bring together enough interested players to get the squad training.

From there, we can build at the right pace for the group — developing skills, growing numbers and creating opportunities to play rugby as the squad develops.

We would particularly like to hear from:

  • New players who would like to try rugby

  • Former players considering returning to the game

  • Experienced players looking for something new

  • Military personnel living or working locally

  • Women from Amesbury and the surrounding communities

  • Anyone interested in helping as a coach, manager, volunteer or supporter

You don't need to decide today whether rugby is for you.

Just tell us you're interested.

Complete our short enquiry form and we’ll keep you informed as the squad comes together, including opportunities to meet Leone, meet other prospective players and get involved in our first sessions.
