Since its founding in 2018, women’s rugby at Amesbury RFC grew into an important and inspiring part of our club.

The team quickly established itself as a strong force in the region, rising several leagues to compete in NC1 — the highest women’s league level in the local area. Along the way, the squad built a reputation for determination, camaraderie, and a brilliant team spirit both on and off the pitch.

With player numbers falling below what was needed for competitive rugby, we made the decision to pause and rebuild a new women’s squad once we have the right support around it.
We’ve reflected on how we can better support the women’s game at the club, and those lessons guide this fresh start. We will start with putting in place the coaching and admin team to ensure the squad can be run effectively and integrated in to the club operations.

This is a fresh start built on belonging • fun • fitness • friendship
and a shared desire to be a part of a club with a thriving kids, mens and walking rugby sections.
Now, as we prepare for the next stage of the club’s journey, our immediate priority is to find dedicated Head and Assistant coaches plus a Team Manager to shape performance, drive player development, and help grow the women’s game at Amesbury RFC both on and off the pitch. If you can help us with these roles then please get in touch via the enquiry form below.

With the club preparing to move into a brand-new home and clubhouse in summer 2026, this is a brilliant moment to get involved and help shape the future of women’s rugby in Amesbury.

Untill we have the coaches in place we wont try to start training as that will just let the players down and we dont want that but none the less we are keen to hear from players of all experience levels who would like to join us when the coach is in situ — whether you’re completely new to rugby, returning after a break, or a seasoned player looking for a new challenge we would like to engage. We’d be delighted to reconnect with anyone who’d like to be more integrated in to the club.
